Oil Exploration

Oil is founded in many countries all over the world, it is composed of small plants and animal’s remaining in the deep seas in the period of 10 billion and 600 million years ago.

These creatures were swamped in the sands in the deep seas, and after many years these remaining come together and become as layers without oxygen, so these creatures become carbonic components which made the organic layers. The organic materials mixed with the sediments to make a peel with small granules or what we called source rock. And when these layers precipitated it will shed high heat and pressure on the source rock, then the organic materials will transform to crude oil and natural gas and the oil will transport from the source rock and gather in thick and porosity place which contain sand and lime stones and they are called the storage rock. The earth movement will limit oil and natural gas in the storage rock between the natural rocks or what we called hat rocks like carnet or marble.

The earth movement includes:

Folding:
the horizontal movements of the earth press to the inside and move the rock layers to up as a folder or anticline.

Faulting:
the rock layers will fault and part of them will move to up and down.

Pinching out:
a layer of the rocks will pinch out the natural layer to the up in the storage rocks.

Finding oil:
The mission of finding oil is given to the geologists and their duty is to find the suitable circumstances of the oil (the right source rock) and the storage rock and hunting. The geologists will check the superficial rocks and the photos that are taken from the satellites. In addition to that they are doing other ways to find oil such as using sensitive measurements to measure the small changes in the gravitation which show that there are oil in this place, and they use the magnetic measurements to  measure the small changes in the magnetic by using sensitive and electronic noses called sniffers. And finally they use the quake surveying by generating apostate waves to the surface.

The shocking wave is generated in the quake test by:

  • pressed air handgun- with pulses of air in the water (explorations over the water).
  • Thumber truck – rang heavy plates in the ground (explorations on the ground).
  • digging bombs in the ground (explorations on the ground) or thrown from a moving boat (explorations over the water) then we make the explosion.
